First ever flash mob in Mongolia

As a follow up to my previous post, please enjoy watching this “breath-taking” footage by my friend  Baika :) As a professional journalist, he did not fail to post/document this online and make fun of us at the same time. A couple years ago on November 26, 2007, soon after my return from the US, 1 and my fellow members of Tsahim Urtuu (e-station) online network “proudly” decided to gather by this very exceptional statue and do something special. The statue is built as a tribute to a famous Mongolian song “Haluun elgen nutag” (literal translation would be: Warm heartfelt homeland or The motherland tied to my warm heart) right next to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in downtown UB. As a choir, we sang the first two stanzas of the very same song during this cold winter day. It might sound pretty crazy. But November 26 is national Independence day in Mongolia. The event is considered as the first ever flash mob taken place in UB. Two things I should note here. To begin with, it is not very common to have a statue dedicated for a SONG. Secondly, as you see I am no good singer. I never remember any lyrics completely. The event was covered on the evening news of National TV. After the footage was on-air, anchor Dolgion humorously smiled and commented “We must understand that it was a pretty cold day.” :) Needless to say, the performance was not that magnificent. Tsahim urtuu members are planning to PERFORM their next flash mob. Any baika-esque ideas you wanna share with us? But no more songs, please! :)
